League of Legends sets a new record for daily audience

Studio Riot Games reported a new record for the daily number of players staying online. The indicator was calculated as the average daily level of peak user activity for all regions of Riot (West), Tencent (China) and Garena (Southeast Asia and Taiwan) in August.

The information was published in the official developers blog. The daily audience of League of Legends is more than 8 million players at a time. Riot said this figure makes LoL the most visited computer game in the world, but there are some conflicting data. For example, the corporate website of Smilegate, the developers of the Crossfire online shooter, a Counter-Strike-style game, reports an online audience of a similar size.

Recall that last year 10.8 million players participated in a live performance of electronic musician Marshmello inside Fortnite from Epic Games. The event was held in February 2019, but it is worth noting that this number included players from different platforms, and not just from a PC.

What is really difficult to argue with – according to Riot, the game League of Legends is larger in terms of the audience of the top ten best Steam games combined. Valve regularly publishes the number of concurrent users for the top 100 platform games. The first line of this list is PUBG with 553,684 online players.
