Port Forwarding On Zte H108n And H118n Router

The technical support experts have a twofold attitude towards ZTE wireless routers. Some scold for unstable work, others praise for higher speed.
I have on the test two models issued to subscribers; the universal H108N router, which on the new firmware was turned purely into an ADSL modem, and the H118N FTTB router. Both showed good speed and at the same time behaved evenly. So I have no complaints about them.
In this article, I want to tell you how to open a port on a ZTE router. Both models allow you to do this in 3 ways. Universal; through uPnP, commonplace through port forwarding and cardinal; via DMZ. Let’s look at least one of them in more detail.

The most common option; this is to use the universal automatic mechanism of the uPnP function; Universal Plug and Play. To do this, we find the item of the same name in the Applications section; main menu of the device.

Check the Enable box ;, check that the WAN connection is correctly set and apply the configuration.

2nd method; this is the Port Forwarding section; which also has a menu on both the ZTE H118N and H108N. This is a classic of the genre.

Here you need to check Enable ;.
Later, we indicate the name for the rule and protocol. The protocol is best set universally; TCP and UDP ;.
We look to see the WAN connection in the list; An internet connection has been selected.
In the Start WAN Port field; make the port we need to open. And it is necessary to register it below, in the Initial LAN port; field. If it is necessary to make forwarding for a range of ports, then you need to specify the start and end numbers in the range for LAN and WAN.
It remains only to indicate the IP address of the computer for which we do all this and click the Add; button. The rule will appear below in the table.

Well, and the third way; This is the DMZ demilitarized zone. This is a cardinal method that can be used in this case, when past options did not work. In the menu we find and open the subsection DMZ host ;.

Check the Enabled box; select the used external Internet connection and specify the IP address of the PC that we want to bring to the zone. Click on the Apply button ;. At the moment, the computer from the external network will be fully visible with all its available services. You can check.

Note: On some firmware versions (especially the H108N router), localization of the interface into Russian leaves much to be desired. Here the forwarding is configured in the Port Forwarding section ;:

Here, in fact, everything is identical to what I described above, except that in the fields of the starting and ending IP addresses of the LAN host, you must specify the port that we want to open on the router.
